Many of you know the story about Montana Mazurkiewicz and his brave battle with an inoperable brain tumor. What you do not know is the entire Story. Cathy Mazurkiewicz, Montana's mother, was also in her own brave battle with cancer, she was battling skin cancer for four years.

When Montana was diagnosed with a brain tumor, they fought their cancer battle together, and braved through Chemo as well. They also fought for other people who had cancer via fundraisers.
Montana was quoted saying, "I want to support all the people who have cancer.  And myself."
After Montana passed in September of 2005, Cathy got very sick and spent a few weeks in a hospital in Indiana. By October she was given two months to live by her doctors, and she moved out to California to be near her family.

She lived far beyond those two months that the doctors told her she had. And finally succumbed to her battle May 24th, 2006 mid-day.
She passed peacefully in her parents home in California with two of her daughters by her side at the age of 46.

Katrin is quoted as saying, "She struggled for a long time with pain and disability. It was a blessing to see that she was at peace."

Cathy was a beautiful woman, with a wonderful heart, a fighting spirit and tremendously courageous. She was very giving and very proud of her kids.
She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her dad, John, and her youngest son Montana.

She is survived by five of her six children; Daughters Stephanie Stuart and fiancé Troy of Mishawaka, Katrin "Kay Kay" Seymour and her husband Aleksei of CA and Shannon "Sissy" Bacon and her husband Michael of CO; Sons, Donnie Stuart of NC and Rockne Mazurkiewicz of CO.
Also surviving her are her parents, Dennis and Marilyn Francis of CA and Chris Seymour of CA; her grandmother, Natalie Francis of CA,  her sister, Noelle Seymour of CA; brothers, John Seymour and wife Trudy of CA,  David "D" Francis and his wife Shawn of CA; her granddaughter, Delaney Bacon of CO; as well as nieces and nephews.

Reverse Rollup

Reverse Rollup
Stand behind an opponent, grab his waist, and push him towards the ropes, let him bounce and do a backwards somersault while still holding him.
When you return to a standing position, you should be sitting in the crook of his knees, holding him in a pinning position.

Back Spin Punch

Back Spin Punch
Stand with an opponent on your right side, and pivot backwards on your right foot 180 degrees, snapping your arm outwards with fist closed near the end of your spin.
Also called a "spinning back fist".

Legwheel

Legwheel
Stand beside opponent, grab him at the waist, and step your right leg in front of him.
Still holding him, turn left at the waist, leveraging him over your leg onto his back.

Leg Grapevine

Leg Grapevine
Stand over facedown opponent, facing away from his head.
Grapevine his near leg with your near leg, and fall backwards to apply pressure.
Also been known to be called the "Indian Deathlock".

Axe Kick

Axe Kick is performed by doing the following:
Standing near a fallen opponent, swing one leg forwards and upwards so it is outstretched over your opponent, then bring it down heel first into your opponent.

Hamstring Pull

To Complete a Hamstring Pull you must do as follows:
Stand at a prone opponent's legs, facing towards his head; pick up one of his legs with one hand, and leap into a forward flip, pulling the leg with you as far as it will go. Also called a "thigh stretch".

Claw(hold)

Claw(hold) is done by doing the following:
Grab the opponent's face with one hand and squeeze tightly.
This maneuver is also called a "clawlock" or "clawhold".
The clawhold can also be applied to other parts of the body, such as the stomach, the shoulder, or a limb joint, with an appropriate change of names (abdominal claw, etc.).

Prone/Facedown/Fallen/Bent Opponent

A "prone" opponent is one lying on his back on the mat, facing upwards.
A "facedown" opponent is (naturally) lying face down on the mat.
A "fallen" opponent is either prone or facedown.
A "bent" opponent is leaning forward, bent at the waist.

The Crook

The "crook" of a joint is the inside of the joint.
This is normally a self-evident usage, but one note: the crook of an ankle is the top of the foot, nearest the leg.

Fisherman Buster

Fisherman Buster (aka. fisherman's buster) maneuver is achieved by doing the following:
Hook the front-face lock and single-leg as if for a fisherman suplex lift the opponent, and drop them on the back of their head.

Crucifix Power Bomb

Crucifix Power Bomb is performed by lifting your opponent as if for a power bomb, but hoist him over your shoulder and onto your back, holding him in place by his arms (thus "crucifying them" on your back). Fall forward and slam them down.

Montana Mazurkiewicz, the courage of this little boy, not only inspired a team, but moved a nation

Montana M. Mazurkiewicz, 10, of Mishawaka IN, passed away after a courageous
year-and-a-half long battle with a brain tumor.

Montana loved fishing and football. He wanted to join the Army when he grew up and was made an Honorary Two Star General by the Indiana National Guard. He loved watching NASCAR, and animals, especially dogs. Montana always lit up a room when he came in with his smile. He could make people laugh and was such a prankster. Even though he had a funny side, Montana also was very kind, caring and helpful, especially to senior citizens. He liked the Denver Broncos and Notre Dame. On a visit to his house by Notre Dame Coach Charlie Weiss, Montana selected the first play that the football team ran against Washington during Saturday's game. The only people who knew what the play was were Montana and Coach Weiss. On Thursday, September 22, members of different Notre Dame women's athletic teams came to visit with Montana at the house and it meant the world to him. He just got back Tuesday morning, Sept. 20, from Walt Disney World in Florida. The trip was made possible by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to the Indiana National Guard, especially Lt. Eric Nance, the ND athletes, the 6th Floor Pediatric Oncology, 1st Floor Radiation Oncology, both at Memorial Hospital, and the nurses and doctors who helped take care of Montana, as well as the teachers and staff at Hums Elementary School, Mishawaka. Montana's former principal, Mickey Roelandts, said "Montana is just an angel, an absolute angel."

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, John.

Montana was born on July 4, 1995, in Riverside, CA, to Michael and Cathy (Seymour) Mazurkiewicz. He is survived by his
parents, Michael and Cathy; three sisters, Stephanie Stuart and boyfriend Troy of Mishawaka, Katrin "Kay Kay" Seymour and her husband Aleksei of CA and Shannon "Sissy" Bacon and her husband Michael of CO; two brothers, Donnie Stuart of NC and Rockne Mazurkiewicz of Mishawaka.
Also surviving are his grandparents, Matthew Mazurkiewicz of South Bend, Eugenia Mazurkiewicz of Mishawaka, Nana Chris Seymour of CA, Dennis and Marilyn Francis of CA; his great-grandmother, Natalie Francis of CA; his aunt, Noelle Seymour of CA, uncles, John Seymour and wife Trudy of CA,  David "D" Francis and his wife Shawn of CA, Jim Mazurkiewicz and Joe Mazurkiewicz and his wife Chris, both of Mishawaka, and Dennis Mazurkiewicz of South Bend; his niece, Delaney Bacon of CO; and his very best friend, Jack Banes of Mishawaka.

Honorary member of the National Guard loses battle to brain cancer

A local boy who was recently named an honorary member of the US Military has lost his battle with brain cancer.

Ten-year-old Montana Mazurkiewicz died Friday morning September 23rd.

Montana was featured over the summer on NewsCenter 16. He dreamed of being a soldier so much that back in July, the National Guard made him an honorary member.

Young brain tumor victim was an Irish fan

Coach Weis showed up at the Mazurkiewicz home in Mishawaka, just east of South Bend, Ind., and talked with Montana about his tumor and about Weis' s 10-year-old daughter, Hannah, who has global development delay, a rare disorder similar to autism. Weis said the meeting was touching.

"He told me about his love for Notre Dame football and how he just wanted to make it through this game this week," Weis said. "He just wanted to be able to live through this game because he knew he wasn't going to live very much longer."

Weis asked Montana if there was something he could do for him. He agreed to let Montana call the first play against Washington on Saturday. He called "pass right."

Montana never got to see the play. He died Friday September 23rd at his home.

Weis heard about the death and called Mazurkiewicz on Friday night to assure her he would still call Montana's play.

When the Irish started on their own 1-yard-line following a fumble recovery, Mazurkiewicz wasn't sure Notre Dame would be able to throw a pass.

Weis called a play where quarterback Brady Quinn ran right and looked for tight end Anthony Fasano. Fasano caught the pass for a 13-yard gain.

"It's almost like Montana was willing him to beat that defender and take it to the house," Weis said.
